"The Cameroonian diaspora is a key partner in accelerating both the economic and human development of the city and the wider Cameroon. I call on citizens living abroad to actively invest in high-potential sectors such as tourism, energy, port activities, and hospitality, which are major drivers of local growth. I also encourage them to leverage their skills, expertise, and international networks to support local projects and strengthen institutional capacity. Through their engagement, the diaspora is invited to play a central role in job creation, innovation, and the improvement of living standards. This collective commitment is seen as essential to positioning Limbe as a dynamic, attractive, and inclusive coastal hub."
City Mayor
Limbe, located in the Southwest Region of Cameroon, is a strategic coastal city bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and situated at the foot of Mount Cameroon. It has an estimated population of about 120,000 to 150,000 inhabitants and benefits from a privileged geographic position for maritime trade and tourism. The town hosts key economic infrastructure, including SONARA, the country’s main oil refinery, which plays a central role in the national economy. The city is also known for its strong tourism potential, with volcanic beaches, nature reserves, and cultural events. Ongoing investments in urban infrastructure, the energy sector, and tourism development are further enhancing its attractiveness. In many localities of our country of origin, the lack or obsolescence of firefighting equipment puts lives, property, and the environment at serious risk. Local civil protection services are often overwhelmed by the scale of emergencies. This mission aims to equip a particularly vulnerable community with a modern, fully equipped fire truck. Diaspora engagement is essential to finance this critical purchase and provide the necessary expertise for its implementation, ensuring better protection and faster emergency response capabilities.
