General description
This mission aims to revitalize the tourism sector in high-potential but currently underdeveloped regions by leveraging the expertise and networks of the diaspora. We will seek to identify and support sustainable tourism projects (ecotourism, cultural tourism, and community-based tourism) to strengthen the capacities of local stakeholders, improve the visibility of destinations, and facilitate access to key resources such as training, funding, and marketing. The objective is to develop an authentic tourism offering that respects local communities and the environment.
Impacts / Objectives
The project aims to increase local tourism revenue by 15% in targeted areas over a three-year period, while creating at least 50 direct and indirect jobs for young people and women. It also seeks to build the capacity of 100 local stakeholders, including guides, artisans, and hoteliers, in areas such as management, marketing, and hospitality. Furthermore, the initiative will focus on developing and promoting five new, sustainable, and attractive tourism offerings.
Contribution details
The diaspora is invited to contribute its expertise and networks. This includes technical skills in areas such as digital marketing, hotel management, tourism product development, ecotourism, and conservation. It also involves providing mentorship and training by supporting local entrepreneurs and facilitating capacity-building workshops. Furthermore, the diaspora can leverage its networks to connect local stakeholders with international tour operators, potential investors, and technical experts
Mission conditions
Participants are expected to demonstrate a long-term commitment, strong adaptability, and sensitivity to local cultural contexts. Proficiency in French and/or local languages is an asset. Availability for occasional field missions (if possible) and regular remote work is required. Relevant professional experience in the tourism or local development sector is considered an advantage.
