Support for the rehabilitation of priority schools

Thiès is a crossroads city near Dakar, the capital of one of Senegal's most populous regions, with a very young population. Each rainy season, low-lying areas such as Sampathé, Mbambara, Tokhalit, and the Nguinth canal are exposed to flooding. Insanitation and waste management remain challenges in several neighborhoods. The neighborhoods of Thiès North, East, and West communes (Médina Fall, Takhikao, Nguinth, Diakhao Thialy) are organized around neighborhood delegates, sanitation committees, and women's and youth associations. The municipality invests in youth (scholarships, digital training from age eight, Xëyu Ndaw-gni volunteer corps) and seeks partnerships for employment, particularly in the horticultural sector. Thiès has a strong educational and economic fabric: University of Thiès, École Polytechnique, Manufacture des Arts Décoratifs, merchants, artisans, and farmers' organizations. Thiès civil society needs technical and financial support to structure itself and act sustainably. The diaspora can contribute through its skills, investments, and networks.
