General description
The initiative takes place in a context of increased pressure on sanitation services. Bertoua, like other Cameroonian cities, faces a recurrent accumulation of garbage, with risks to public health and the living environment.
Launch of a pilot operation in the city aimed at equipping each household with a suitable garbage bin and raising citizens' awareness of responsible waste management. The goal is to drastically reduce illegal dumping and improve the urban aesthetic, drawing on the diaspora's engagement for financing, logistics, and awareness-raising.
Impacts / Objectives
1. Reduction of illegal dumping in the pilot areas within 1 year.
2. Increase in the selective sorting rate in participating households.
3. Visible improvement in the cleanliness of public spaces, measured by a sanitation index.
4. Creation of a replicable model for other cities.
