General description
In the face of growing environmental challenges (waste management, biodiversity protection, water quality, climate adaptation), many municipalities lack the expertise and tools needed to develop and implement effective policies. This mission aims to fill this gap by offering a structured capacity-building program for municipal teams. The program will include the design and delivery of targeted training modules, the organization of practical workshops, and personalized technical support. The goal is to transfer proven knowledge and methodologies by actively mobilizing diaspora professionals with relevant expertise to support local sustainable development.
Impacts / Objectives
The mission will have a direct and measurable impact on municipalities' capacity to manage their environmental challenges. The main objectives are to:
- **Increase by 30%** the level of knowledge and skills of key municipal staff regarding best environmental practices and current regulations.
- **Enable the development and adoption of at least 2 concrete local projects** or action plans (e.g., a waste management plan, a wetland protection strategy) per participating municipality.
- **Establish a lasting network** of exchange and mentoring between diaspora experts and municipal teams for ongoing support and the integration of innovations.
- **Contribute to greater territorial resilience** in the face of climate change and to a tangible improvement in residents' quality of life.
Contribution details
We are looking for diaspora professionals with proven expertise in the environment and sustainable development who are eager to share their skills. The profiles sought include:
- **Experts in waste management and the circular economy** (collection, sorting, recovery, recycling).
- **Specialists in biodiversity and ecosystem protection** (fauna, flora, wetlands, forests).
- **Water and sanitation engineers** (water treatment, wastewater management, hydrology).
- **Urban planners and land-use developers** specializing in sustainable development and ecological planning.
- **Trainers or consultants** experienced in designing and delivering educational modules for adults.
Contributions may take the form of training sessions (online or in person), remote mentoring, technical assistance for feasibility studies, or help with drafting strategic documents.
Mission conditions
The mission is flexible and adaptable to the availability of diaspora experts. A strong ability to adapt to the local context and excellent communication are essential. Training or advisory assignments can be carried out remotely, with the possibility of occasional on-site travel for intensive workshops or specific support, if necessary and agreed in advance. Travel and accommodation costs for on-site assignments will be covered.
