General description
This mission aims to harness the investments and expertise of the Cameroonian diaspora for the economic development of Maroua. By capitalizing on the city's potential in identified high-growth sectors – real estate, agribusiness, trade, infrastructure, and services – we will actively support local SMEs and young people's entrepreneurial initiatives. The goal is to generate sustainable job opportunities, strengthen the local economic fabric, and curb rural exodus by leveraging the potential of this strategic city in the Far North.
Impacts / Objectives
1. **Creation of sustainable jobs:** Generate a significant number of skilled, long-lasting jobs for the young people of Maroua, particularly in high-growth sectors.
2. **Local economic momentum:** Stimulate SME growth and the economic diversification of Maroua through targeted, structuring investments.
3. **Entrepreneurial emergence:** Support and finance the emergence of a new generation of local entrepreneurs, especially young people, through the transfer of skills and capital.
4. **Diaspora engagement:** Position the diaspora as a major, concrete player in Maroua's economic development, by facilitating returns on investment and social impact.
Contribution details
To bring this mission to life, we are seeking the diaspora's mobilization in several forms:
* **Financial:** Direct investment capital, micro-financing, and participatory loans for businesses and projects with strong job-creation potential.
* **Expertise and Mentoring:** Technical support, training, and coaching in management, finance, marketing, and innovation for local entrepreneurs and young project leaders.
* **Networks and Partnerships:** Facilitating business connections, market access, and links with international experts or institutions for the supported businesses.
Mission conditions
Eligible projects and businesses must present a viable business plan, a measurable social impact (particularly in terms of job creation for young people), and align with Maroua's strategic sectors. A commitment to transparency, good governance, and regular monitoring of performance and impact will be required. The diaspora will be able to participate via dedicated investment platforms and clear reporting mechanisms.
