General description
In many cities of origin, waste management and public cleanliness remain major challenges, affecting public health, the environment, and the attractiveness of urban spaces. This mission aims to transform waste management in our communities by providing essential infrastructure and promoting a sustainable culture of cleanliness. It includes the installation of selective waste bins in strategic locations (markets, schools, public spaces) and the organization of regular cleanup campaigns. These actions will be complemented by awareness sessions for residents, especially youth, on the importance of sorting, recycling, and waste reduction. The diaspora is a key partner in mobilizing financial resources, sharing best practices in waste management, and coordinating efforts with local authorities and civic organizations.
Impacts / Objectives
Short-term (6–12 months): Install at least 100 new selective waste bins in targeted priority neighborhoods; organize 3 large community cleanup campaigns involving at least 500 local volunteers; and raise awareness among 2,000 residents (including 50% youth) on sorting and waste reduction through workshops and educational materials.
Long-term (2–3 years): Reduce illegal dumping and uncollected waste in public spaces by 30% in intervention areas; improve residents’ perception of environmental cle.
Contribution details
The diaspora can contribute significantly to this mission:
* **Funding:** Contribute to the purchase of bins (estimated unit cost of €50-150 depending on the model) and to the materials for the campaigns (gloves, bags, cleaning tools, awareness materials).
* **Technical expertise:** Share knowledge in waste management, urban logistics, recycling strategies, or the design of environmental awareness campaigns.
* **Remote volunteering:** Help with the coordination of campaigns, the creation of multilingual communication materials, the search for local partners, or the administrative and financial management of the project.
* **On-site volunteering:** Actively participate in cleanup days, awareness sessions, and the supervision of bin installation during stays in the region.
* **Communication and advocacy:** Mobilize their personal and professional networks to amplify the cleanliness message and attract new support (partners, donors, volunteers).
We are looking for varied profiles: project managers, environmental experts, communication specialists, educators, or anyone motivated by improving their home environment.
Mission conditions
Contributors are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to environmental protection and urban cleanliness. The ability to collaborate effectively with local teams, communities, and authorities is essential. The mission requires flexibility to adapt to on-the-ground realities, as well as a willingness to share skills and time. For field activities, respect for local customs and strong adaptability are required.
