General description
Many public schools in Maroua, particularly in the working-class neighborhoods of Pitoaré, Doualaré, and Domayo, suffer from dilapidation, overcrowding, and a glaring lack of essential equipment. Classrooms are often deteriorated, latrines and access to drinking water are insufficient, and furniture (desk-benches) as well as IT equipment are lacking. This mission aims to significantly improve the learning and safety conditions of primary and secondary school students through concrete actions to rehabilitate priority school infrastructure.
Impacts / Objectives
Direct improvement of learning conditions for thousands of students. Reduction of school overcrowding and the creation of a healthier and safer educational environment. Increased access to drinking water and decent sanitary facilities in schools. Strengthening the appeal of schools and reducing dropouts. Contribution to sustainable local development and educational equity in Maroua.
Contribution details
The diaspora is called upon for varied contributions:
* **Funding and fundraising:** Direct financial support for renovation projects, the purchase of equipment (desk-benches, IT equipment), and the construction of new classrooms or infrastructure (latrines, boreholes).
* **Technical expertise:** Construction engineers, architects, project managers for the planning, design, and supervision of rehabilitation work (classrooms, roofs, floors).
* **Donation of equipment:** Mobilization for the acquisition and delivery of desk-benches, hygiene kits, IT equipment, and water-supply systems.
* **Partnership development:** Connecting with companies, NGOs, or institutions for co-financing and logistical support.
* **Project management:** Skills in monitoring-evaluation and the establishment of regular maintenance programs for school infrastructure.
Mission conditions
The mission will be carried out in close collaboration with local educational authorities and Maroua's school administrations. Regular monitoring of projects will be put in place, with progress reports and the possibility of field visits for contributors wishing to get directly involved. Transparency in the management of funds and resources is paramount. Projects will be defined according to the priority needs identified by communities and schools, with an emphasis on institutions in working-class and outlying neighborhoods.
