General description
Édéa faces significant public health challenges linked to its urban growth and industrial activity.
The modernization of health infrastructure and the strengthening of hospital equipment are priorities.
Access to specialized care (cardiology, surgery, imaging) remains limited, forcing evacuations to Douala.
Maternal and child health requires better monitoring, with strengthened prenatal care and vaccination.
Infectious diseases, particularly malaria, demand more effective and continuous prevention actions.
The city must also improve the availability of medical staff and access to essential medicines.
Finally, prevention, occupational health, and equitable access to care are urgent areas for strengthening.
Impacts / Objectives
The objectives of this mission are to:
- Increase the effectiveness and relevance of local public health programs by 20% within two years, measured by key performance indicators.
- Strengthen the skills of local health staff through training and mentoring, by training at least 50 professionals annually.
- Improve access to preventive and curative care for the targeted populations, measured by a 15% increase in vaccination coverage or screening rates for priority diseases.
- Set up more robust epidemiological surveillance systems through the integration of new methodologies and tools.
