General description
Kindia, nicknamed the citrus capital for its abundance of tropical fruits, is home to many young entrepreneurs who transform fruits and cereals into juice, dried fruits, or semolina, but who remain underequipped and often lack training in good manufacturing and hygiene practices. Inspiring examples exist: a young producer from Kindia started with half a hectare of pineapples, then ventured into transforming corn into latchiri after observing significant post-harvest losses; another developed a solar fruit drying business and increased her profits by 40 to 50% thanks to management and processing training. In February 2023, the major Young Entrepreneur competition (3rd edition, 8 regions) received 33 projects from the Kindia region in agribusiness, digital, fishing, and social entrepreneurship, of which only three could be pre-selected, with the objective of reducing youth unemployment and curbing irregular emigration. Demand therefore exceeds available support. This mission invites the diaspora to invest in impact businesses, to sponsor and train young project leaders, and to open their business networks in Kindia's promising sectors: fruit and cereal processing, drying and preservation, logistics and cold chain towards Conakry, services, digital, tourism, and events around the Kania Soli festival.
