Poverty reduction
General description
The city of Bamenda, Cameroon, faces significant challenges related to poverty, marked by high unemployment, particularly among young people and women, and a heavy reliance on informal activities. The Northwest region is especially vulnerable due to economic instability and recent crises. This mission aims to support the municipal poverty reduction program by strengthening existing initiatives and developing new opportunities. Activities will include developing income-generating activities, implementing targeted vocational training, and supporting local entrepreneurship, particularly in agriculture and small businesses. Emphasis will be placed on improving access to microfinance and credit for women and young entrepreneurs. The mission will seek to strengthen partnerships between local authorities, NGOs such as Caritas Bamenda, SHUMAS, HOFNA Cameroon, and Livelihood NGOs, and the diaspora to maximize impact.
