General description
The city of Bamenda faces major environmental risks: landslides, flooding, and erosion, exacerbated by its mountainous terrain, uncontrolled urbanization, and deforestation. These threats jeopardize the safety of residents and sustainable development. This mission aims to mobilize the expertise of the diaspora to strengthen urban resilience and implement concrete solutions for mitigating and adapting to these critical challenges.
Impacts / Objectives
Significantly reduce the vulnerability of Bamenda's population to natural disasters (landslides, floods). Improve urban planning and land management for safer and more sustainable development. Restore local ecosystems and stabilize soils through reforestation and conservation efforts. Raise community awareness of risks and strengthen their adaptive capacities. Contribute to protecting lives and ensuring the sustainability of urban development in Bamenda.
Contribution details
The diaspora can contribute its expertise in sustainable urban planning, civil engineering (drainage systems, resilient infrastructure), geology and natural hazard management, the environment (reforestation, soil conservation), and communication for awareness-raising. Funding for pilot projects or the acquisition of equipment is also invaluable. Sharing international best practices and networking with technical partners are key contributions.

Volunteer commitment. Flexible availability for remote contributions or occasional on-site assignments. Ability to collaborate with local stakeholders. Fluency in French or English. Proven experience in technical fields or environmental project management is an asset.
