General description
Despite a dynamic cultural scene with events such as SUD and FESTIDOUALA, Douala struggles to establish itself as a major African cultural destination. This mission aims to structure and internationalize the city's major cultural events to make them levers of urban, economic, and image development. The goal is to transform the existing potential into events of a scale comparable to continental benchmarks, by strengthening their professionalism, funding, and international visibility, and by leveraging the strategic role of the diaspora.
Impacts / Objectives
Douala recognized as a major cultural hub in Central Africa. A significant increase in tourist numbers and economic benefits for the hospitality, catering, and transport sectors. Stimulation of local creative industries (music, fashion, cinema, visual arts). Strengthening of the city's image and international appeal. Creation of direct and indirect jobs in the cultural and events sector.
Contribution details
The diaspora can play an essential role through:
- **Funding and Sponsorship:** Providing private resources to support event budgets, reduce dependence on public funding, and attract international sponsors.
- **International Promotion:** Connecting the festivals to global distribution circuits, partners, and media, thereby strengthening their visibility and appeal abroad.
- **Expertise and Professionalization:** Sharing skills in cultural management, production, marketing, copyright, and the digitalization of events.
- **Networks and Partnerships:** Facilitating collaborations with other festivals, cultural institutions, and international artists.
- **Structuring Investment:** Supporting the development of modern cultural infrastructure (venues, studios) and digital platforms.
Mission conditions
The mission is aimed at professionals in culture, events, marketing, and finance, and at the Cameroonian or African diaspora.
