Upskilling and strengthening municipal services and civil society

In Douala, upskilling municipal services and civil society has become a priority in the face of rapid urban growth. The city hall's departments need to strengthen their capacities in integrated urban management and territorial planning. Tools such as geographic information systems (GIS) and urban data analysis remain insufficiently developed. The digitalization of public services (civil registry, taxation, permits) is an urgent need to improve administrative efficiency. Waste and environmental management requires modernized skills and logistical monitoring tools. Urban mobility must be better structured within the framework of public transport projects such as the BRT. Local NGOs and neighborhood associations are actively involved but with limited capacities. A new strategic challenge is emerging: territorial marketing to strengthen the city's appeal.
