Strengthening the public transport modernization program

The city of Garoua launched a pioneering electric bus program in January 2026, with a fleet of 26 vehicles planned by 2027. This ambitious project aims to transform urban mobility, reduce pollution, and significantly improve transport conditions. However, the sustainability of this network depends crucially on strengthening local capacities for specialized maintenance of electric buses, setting up charging infrastructure and suitable workshops, and training technicians. At the same time, optimizing the organization of the overall network, including the integration of structured new taxi companies and better regulation, is essential for efficient and complementary service.
